Shared-hosting servers upgraded to MySQL 5.1
All shared-hosting MySQL servers are currently upgraded to MySQL 5.1
This upgrade enables our clients to use triggers. Triggers were’nt usable in shared environment in the past versions of MySQL since they required explicit SUPER privilege of MySQL server.
Users can enable triggers using DataZone control-panel and MySQL » Databases/Users submenu. Triggers can be enabled on basis of MySQL user/database combination.
New TLDs available at ZONE.EU

New homepage and upgraded service plans
Welcome to our rejuvenated homepage! We hope it is comfortable and intuitive to use for all.
We have some good news:
- Today we will upgrade all our shared hosting plans. Our most popular service plan "I" will offer 3 GiB of diskspace, 100 mailboxes and up to 50 GiB of monthly web traffic. You can find out more about the new plans at https://data.zone.ee/shared-hosting/prices . Pricing for the service packages will remain the same.
- Additionally we are introducing our dedicated hosting plans. We provide dedicated hosting for websites that require more diskspace and resources than shared hosting would allow or have a profile that does not allow for shared hosting to be used. Our dedicated hosting packages are unique in the sense, that they provide an opportunity to use our custom software platform with familiar features, procedures and methods on the dedicated servers.
Looking forward to doing business with you

MySQL database was upgraded!
DataZone virtual servers are using a newer generation of MySQL server software.
Instead of the previous 4.0 version we have deployed the 4.1 version of MySQL.
We would like to bring to your attention that the new database system allows you to use different charsets and collations on the database, table and field level. All the current data has been exported to the new database system as the original latin1 charset and if you do not make changes in the charset settings, everything will keep working as it used to.
If you want to change the the charset (to use a specific cyrillics or utf encoding type), then you must learn about the correct procedures involved, you can do that HERE
NB! Do not simply change the charset (in phpMyAdmin) it could lead to loss of data.
NB! Create a backup of the data before any conversion attempts.
Since the server default charset remains latin1, you must take action to make sure that your data reaches PHP in the charset you want, for that you should read the materials HERE
The newer MySQL service will be incompatible with the previous version in two aspects:
- The TIMESTAMP field type will return the time as YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS, as opposed to YYYYMMDDHHMMSS, which was used in the previous version.
See the manual. - The PASSWORD() function will output a string 41 characters in length, as opposed to the 16 character string used in the previous version. The function OLD_PASSWORD() will have the same behaviour as before. If you store the output of the PASSWORD() function in your tables, make sure that your field length is adequate.

Shared hosting plans got bigger!
Dear customer!
Zone Media is increasing the resources available to shared hosting customers while keeping the prices at the current level.
Diskspace available to most popular hosting plans (I & II) will nearly double. Plan III, which is directed
towards the demanding e-business customer will have its diskspace increased by nearly three times. Also, maximum sizes for
individual e-mail mailboxes will grow.
Details are available on our price list.
Important! A new email virus is spreading!
These last days a new type of e-mail virus, Beagle (W32.Beagle.F@mm), and its
various versions have began to spread in massive amounts. The characteristic feature
of this virus is a password-encoded ZIP file as an attachment to an e-mail. Upon
running of the EXE file included in this ZIP file, the virus becomes active and
starts spreading itself. NB! This EXE file has the icon of a folder, thus it can
mislead common users, inviting them to double-click on it in good faith.
NB! As the virus is packed into a password-encoded ZIP file, antivirus filters
of e-mail servers are unable to detect it. On the other hand, local antivirus
programs should be able to detect the infected files.
You can get a more detailed overview of the virus here:

We remind you again that in any situation you should not open any attached files of e-mail messages if you have even the slightest doubt about the origin of such file or message. This applies especially in case of messages in foreign languages. Even if the sender seems familiar to you, it is advisable to delete such messages at once.
